Andre Horta back to Portugal after MLS failure with LAFC

Andre Horta was the man handpicked by 2018 expansion franchise LAFC and their GM John Thorrington to run the midfield as the third DP in their history. He had the flair and the ability to be a world beater in Bob Bradley’s system and he was named as the Portuguese league player of the month right as the move was being finalized. LAFC was primed to have one of the strongest sets of DP’s Major League Soccer had ever seen. That was the hope in the beginning anyways.

Horta’s first taste of action with LAFC did not go the way he thought it would have. His ill advised back pass in the final minutes of the game cost his new squad three points against the rival LA squad. From that point on, it was all downhill. In his time with the club, Horta made 15 appearances and registered zero goals and zero assists. He played a whopping total of 503 minutes for the black and gold and never made any impact when on the field. Horta did display some dribbling and passing ability but could never keep his play consistent.

While LAFC do take a loss on the transfer of Horta back to Portugal, they still do own fifty percent of the players rights and could recoup the rest of the money if Horta develops into the talent he is rumored to be. Time is still on this young man’s side and I hope he does turn into the quality midfielder he looked to be before making the move stateside. Let’s see if Braga and their management have the quality to turn Horta’s career around.
